The top duties for the father of the bride

When it comes to the bridal party there is one person who is often neglected compared to the rest and that is the father of the bride.

Despite being overlooked, the father of the bride is actually an incredibly important part of your big day and someone who you should never overlook.

Not only this, but you will often find that they wish they could do a bit more to help out on the run up to the big day and on the big day itself.

So, with this mind, we have put together some of the top duties that you can assign to the father of the bride.

Organising the cars

Now, we know that not every dad is a huge fan of cars, but the majority of them are going to have some level of interest in them.

So, why not embrace your dad’s love of cars and ask him to organise the transport for the big day?

Not only does this give them an all important job, but it also is something that they are going to feel the benefit of as there is a good chance that they will be travelling with the bride to the ceremony venue.

Make sure that they have a speech written

One of the most important jobs that the father of the bride has is to give a speech after the wedding breakfast.

This speech should cover thanking guests for coming as well as sharing some stories about his daughter and their life together.

They should also cover a little introduction welcoming the son in law to the family.

Get your dad to ensure that everyone has a post ceremony drink

As your guests are mingling around and waiting for you to finish up with some photos, this is a good chance to ensure that everyone has a drink.

This is often champagne or perhaps cocktails or even beers.

Whilst your wedding venue will often hand these out or put them somewhere for people to help themselves, it is a good idea to ask your dad if he can be in charge of making sure that every one has a drink.

Ask him to make sure that everyone leaves the party safely

Whilst some dads may like to be at home with their slippers on nice and early, some dads are a bit of a party animal.

If there is a good chance that your dad will be the last one standing (and won’t be too drunk) then you can also ask him to be in charge of getting everyone home safely at the end of the night.

As you can see, there are plenty of important things that your dad can do on your big day.

So, why not give him some jobs to do and see if he can make all the difference to your special day?
