The things to think about as soon as you get engaged

When you first get engaged, you can feel like you are in a bit of whirlwind of celebration and excitement.

However, once this has died down, then you are going to want to make sure that you get down to your wedding prep and planning, especially if you hope to get married the following year.

It can be hard to know where to start when it comes to those initial stages of wedding prep, so to help you get things underway, we have put together the things to think about as soon as you get engaged.

Think about your budget

The first thing that you need to think about when it comes to your wedding day is your budget.

Without a budget in mind you are going to find it a whole lot harder to plan.

Once you have a figure in mind that you can afford to spend, then it is time to break down the budget and think about how you are going to allocate the funds.

There are likely to be some things that you really want to spend out on and some things that you are not too bothered about, which will help you to work out where you are going to be spending.

Consider your guest list

Working out your guest list is one of the biggest challenges for your wedding day.

Chances are that you are going to want to invite as many people as possible however, with space and budget a consideration, you might need to cut things down a bit.

Think about who is most important to you, who you really wouldn’t want to have a wedding without and work backwards from there.

Remember that not everyone you are going to invite will be able to come so there may be a small amount of wiggle room.

Visit venues

As soon as you are engaged, you really need to think about where you are going to want to say I do.

Popular venues get booked up quickly, especially if you are going to want to book within peak times.

This means that you need to get out there and visit as many venues as you can.

Particularly if you really are not sure on where you want to hold it, or even the type of place that you like.

As you can see, there are a variety of things to keep in mind when you first get engaged.

Of course, you want to enjoy that initial excitement and there is nothing wrong with that, but once you have got used to wearing that lovely new ring then maybe it is time to get the spreadsheet and planner out and think about some proper wedding stuff.
