06 Mar Keep Your Smallest Guests Entertained With These Great Ideas
Having kids at your wedding is becoming more and more commonplace.
Back in the day kids were expected to sit down quietly and keep out of the way, but any parent will know that this is easier said than done.
So, with this in mind, many couples are deciding to try and include children as much as they can in their celebrations.
One way that they can do this is to make sure that the kids are entertained, especially during the more boring parts of the day.
But how can you do this?
Well, as expert wedding DJs we have seen some great ideas of entertaining smaller guests from the couples that we have worked with, and to help you have the best day ever we have put together some of the best ways that you can try out for yourself…
Create a den
What kid (big or small) doesn’t love a den?
A great way to give them not only their own space, but also somewhere to go when they are feeling bored, a den could simply come in the form of a corner of the room with cushions and games.
Make sure that there is plenty to do, and you will soon see the benefit in the form of some very happy little guests!
Have a dress-up box
Think that you may have a few princesses or superheroes in your midst?
If you do, then why not give them a place to dress up?
Having a dress-up box is ideal for a wedding, as not only is it nice and clean, but it can be low cost too.
Saving you some pennies whilst still keeping them happy.
Make a craft table
This particular idea may be more welcome later on in the day when the photos are out of the way, as it can get messy.
Having pots of pencils, stickers and plenty of paper is an easy way to keep kids entertained and gives them something relatively quiet and calming to focus on whilst the speeches are happening.
Hire a professional
Whilst there are plenty of ways that you can DIY kid’s entertainment, sometimes it really does pay to hire a professional.
There are a wide variety of different kid’s entertainers out there that you can choose from.
Circus performers, magic acts, even just someone who can think of some fun and games, if you have a lot of children attending then this could be worth its weight in gold to arrange.
Create a movie night
As the night draws on there is a good chance that the kids will start to get tired and just want to curl up and relax.
Why not get a little TV, or even a tablet or laptop and create a little movie corner for them?
Pop some popcorn, cushions and blankets down, and let them chill out.
If nothing else, it will give the adults some space to dance whilst the kids are relaxing.
Having kids at your wedding can really make or break the celebration.
So why not make sure that you not only include them in your big day, but that you ensure that they have a great day too?
