How to make sure that your wedding vows are personal to you

Whilst some couples are happy to take a traditional approach to their wedding day, there are more and more couples who are looking to make sure that their big day is as personal as possible.

This means that weddings become more themed, more unique and more bespoke the couple.

One aspect of your wedding day that people don’t realise that they can personalise, but that can be changed to be perfect for you both as a couple are your wedding vows.

So, how can you do this?

How can you make sure that your wedding vows are as personal to you as possible?

Get them started

One thing to remember is that you don’t have to always begin your vows with the words “I promise” you can choose to start your vows with a statement what life was like before you both met, as well as how much better life is now you are together.

You could even present your vows as a story, telling people a little more about how you met.

Tell them why you love them

A great way to present your vows is to make sure that you tell your partner why you love them.

If you are not sure about how to present this, then just list off the reasons why you love them, not only is this a great way to make them smile, but it will definitely be personal too.

Don’t forget to add some personality

As your vows are personal to you, you should never be afraid to show your personality.

If you are quirky, if you are funny or if you are sincere, then you should show this.

After all, these are likely to be the personality traits that your partner loves in you too.

Use song lyrics

One great thing about your wedding vows is that there is no copyright attached to them, so, if you want to steal some song lyrics or a quote from a movie?

Well, go for it!

This not only makes things easier for you, but we have to say that it is pretty cute too.

Don’t over rehearse it

It is normal to feel nervous about speaking in public, which can mean that you want to over-rehearse and practice as much as you can.

However, this is one of the worst things that you can do.

Try and keep it as natural as possible and don’t worry if you mess up or make a mistake, that will just add to the emotion of the day.

Writing personal vows is a great way to add some emotion to your wedding day.

Even better, you could keep them a secret from your partner and really surprise them with just how much you feel for them.
